MityVac 7300 PneumaticVac - Air Operated Fluid Evacuator

MityVac 7300 PneumaticVac - Air Operated Fluid Evacuator Review

Well, it works as expected. Hit it with 90 psi and it'll pull all the oil out of an oil pan or antifreeze out of a block. Because it drafts through the dipstick tube, the draft tubes are rather small which translates to a fairly lengthy evacuation time. For my 6.5L capacity engine, it took about 15 minutes to completely empty. And that's getting nearly 6.25L out, which is pretty empty! Properly cleaning the tank is a little cumbersome because of all the bolts on the lid. I like my equipment really clean when I'm through with it so I actually unbolt the top and clean and wipe the inside. Probably not necessary for most folks - a good rinsing with a solvent would suffice - but manageable nonetheless. Overall, I'm very pleased with the evacuator and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to remove a drain plug ever again. PneumatiVac Air Operated Fluid Evacuator This shop air operated evacuator provides a clean, fast and simple way to evacuate fluids. The base mounted Venturi adds stability during operation and the air and fluid-line shut off valves prevent the unit from overfilling during use. The reservoir is constructed of durable polyethylene and will not rust or corrode. This kit comes with 5 ft. of flexible hose, two rigid dipstick tubes and a universal brake-bleeding adapter. The PneumatiVac can also be used away from the air source by first creating a vacuum, closing off both shut off valves, then transporting the unit to the job. Connect the tubing; release the shut off valves, and the PneumatiVac will do the job! The PneumatiVac, a large 8.8 Liter (2.3 gallon) capacity air operated fluid evacuator, can be used to extract a wide-range of fluid types including: Engine oil from crankcases. Brake fluid from master cylinders and most hydraulic brake systems. Gear oil from transmission cases. Coolant from cooling systems. Power steering fluid from pump reservoirs. Specifications: Reservoir capacity: 2.3 gallons (8.8 liters) Max. operating temperature: 175degF (80degC) Compressed air inlet size: 1/4" NPT Packaged weight: 7.5 lbs (3.4 kg) Size: 24" tall x 12.4" wide x 9.3" deep(610mm tall x 315mm wide x 235mm deep)

A little pricey for what you get, and definitely not perfect but . . . - tela - UT, USA
First of all, if you want to buy this on Amazon, look around a little more here first. As of right now, Amazon has 4 different pages of 7300's with varying prices. Kinda confusing.br /br /I was very hopeful this would be a good product, and it is, but it definitely has its flaws. I tried it on two different cars. I drained the oil normally first in order to see if the vacuum got more oil out than just draining alone. It did, and a substantial amount on both cars too. I was pretty happy with this. I even used the hose to suck out the oil filter pipe which had even more oil.br /br /The biggest problem with this unit is the short hoses! They are so short that I had to pick the evacuator up and put it in my engine bay because otherwise the dipstick tube only went in a few inches. And these are normal size sedans too, nothing jacked up. I imagine buying longer hose at the hardware would fix this, but I wish they would have just put longer hoses on instead.br /br /The other problem is the way this pump is designed means it is always expelling lots of air, which means my compressor was on a lot more than I would like, cycling on and off. If you have a large tank you might be better off though. Also, the sound of the air rushing out and the compressor running makes for a noisy oil change.br /br /Oh, and forget the product description about pre-charging the unit and then taking it to the job site. That would last about 1-2 seconds of suction probably. This thing needs constant suction from your compressor to pull the oil out.br /br /I also used this to bleed brakes and a clutch. The universal brake adapter included is not that tight of a fit, and because of the short hose bleeding the clutch required me to put the unit on its side, which I had to do carefully so that fluid wouldn't go down the air compressor suction tube.br /br /The height of the thing can be kind of a problem too, especially when it's empty. It is prone to fall over. It does have a little metal thing to step on, but you can't always be by the unit when dealing with the hoses. I think they could have made this shorter and fatter.br /br /Another issue I had was removing the hoses from the unit. The rubber around the hose gets sucked on even more with the air pressure and removing it can be a pain, and several times the hose came out, but not the rubber piece that should have come out. I had to use pliers to pull it out once. I would recommend a screw type design instead.br /br /The only reason I am giving this item a positive rating is because it actually did get more oil out than draining alone did. I also plan on using this to change my coolant.br /br /If it was about - cheaper, this product would be just about right for how much it does and how well it does it. But at around , you might kind of feel ripped off.

Go with the pump, forget pneumatic - Chris T. Laquatra - Harrisburg, PA United States
I bought the PneumaticVac after the Dodge dealership informed me they wanted several hundred dollars for my 30k mile service in my Diesel Ram. br /br /The PneumaticVac performs as advertised, I used the middle sized plastic hose and one of the same diameter but longer I had to buy. It seemed this size was the fastest from under my truck. I set the compressor at about 100psi.br /br /This Vac couldn't hold my motor oil for me because my truck contains nearly 12 quarts from empty and this vac doesnt have that much capacity. But in the last few years I worked out a deal with a local garage for motor oil changes. br /br /In my adventure I found that most any garage or parts store will take used uncontaminated oil. (no anti-freeze)br /br /The hardware could have been a better design but like I said it worked saved me money. This vac saved me many times it's own cost in my first use. br /br /I might sell this one as used buy the deluxe model 07201 shown on Sears online, perhaps Amazon has this model as well. It looks much more rugged and as if it might have more uses than mine. br /br /I wasn't very happy about running my portable compressor for so long each time I used it. Not to mention long winded neighbors ears tend to perk up at sounds like the start up of a compressor... Next thing you know you've got an audience with verbal diarrhea.br /br /I needed a longer tube, dish deteregent, a hose, a role of paper towels for that unforeseen last drop that was present in the tube when I put the mightyvac away. (oh, and I could have used a decent pair of ear plugs or a 100lb dog for the neighbors)br /

I have done Oil change for many years the old fashion way..Man what a different. I don't have to set up any ramp, jack the car up or crawl under the car any more, (maybe with the exceptions of changing the oil filter of the cars that has the filter underneath). But my German make car's filter are up on top so it is that much easier I just pop the hood and a few pump later and it is done. The only thing is that I still have to do is get under the car to get the oil filter out. ... Overall this products got me to change my oil on my 4 vehicles..in less 2 hours including a small clean up and change tube for different vehicle.

punping for oil - Kevin Keyes -
I had high hopes this devise would make my oil changing job easier but as i found it really can't be done. The instructions were no help in the initial set up and start of the proceedure. I had to learn what i needed to do as i went along. The main complaint i had was that the tubes that came with the pump were not long enough to get the tube all the way to the bottom of the oil pan. This was while trying to punmp out the oil from a 350 mercury i/o bouat motor. Now i am going to try and find some longer tubes to use for my boat and car. In the boat motor it left about a quart of old oil in the engin. It was very well made but the tubes were the biggesst problem. Also, the tube kinked at the inlet to the resivor.

From out of the box to full of 4 quarts of transmission fluid from my Toyota Sienna...less than 5 minutes. Should have bought one a long time ago. Clean, easy to use, fluid spout makes pouring spill free. The hoses are firm (not soft plastic) and good quality.

Don't try this for gasoline or oil or water or air - S. Baldwin - San Diego
I have purchased this type of pump from several different retail stores, each time forgetting the poor performance I have experienced in the past. This pump could potentially fulfill a basic handyman need: transferring air or liquids. I have usually tried to use it for automotive applications: siphoning oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, engine cooland and the like. It has not been able to perform these basic functions, on any occasion. Specifically, the hose seals are only press-fit friction seals, despite the appearance of threads on the plastic fittings. The main tube seals leak air when trying to press air into any system (other than a latex balloon perhaps). I am unsure what function this device could perform adequately, as it has failed on each attempted use. After my first purchase, a long time elapsed and I began to assume I must have had a bad production model - which I anticipate from any mass produced product... but two subsequent purchases have convinced me that the most valuable pieces in this kit are only the flexible tubing. Better tubing is available. Don't buy this except as a collection of rubber and plastic raw materials for a child's project.

Save your $$ and buy a basic siphon instead - Glenn - Bergenfield, NJ USA
This item did not work from day 1. Total waste of money. It's not even good for decoration. Maybe the pieces of tubing could be salvaged to be used to put an aspirator in the middle and use it as a basic siphon.

Liquivac Oil Extractor - 2 Gallon

Liquivac Oil Extractor - 2 Gallon Review

See more picture

I've had this tool for over 5 years now, and it has performed many oil changes through the dipstick tubes on my gas and diesel cars. Works fine, but the tubing does collapse under vacuum with hot oil, and the seal between hoses and their components leaks as everything collapses. Tubing also ages of course, and becomes leaky - I just replaced with a brass fitting and thread sealant, and braided-reinforced hose. Also, you have to refresh the vacuum once or twice per each gallon, even when none of the seals are leaking. Not too bad for the price though; but I bought an electric pump for the boat so I don't have to keep messing with vacuum pumping during the suck process. I prefer the electric one, but it was like 100 bucks. This one still does car duty. Great for removing used oil from hard to reach drains on large or small engines. Holds up to 2 gallons. Easy to use pump tank comes with suction hose and storage cap. U.S.A.
